The topics that are affecting business owners of the baby boomer generation are not new. And no one expert has all the answers, least of all myself. I am constantly perusing the work of others to find things that broaden my awareness and to add to my ability to serve my clients. In that light I’d like to direct you to a recent blog post from Tom Dean, www.everyfamiliesbusiness.com.
He recently posted on his blog a rather tongue-in-cheek essay on his 10 Tips to Shorten the Life of Your Family Business. As I commented on to his post, I was blown away by how well he had summarized the errors we see being made again and again. If you are the owner of a family business or if you are an advisor to one, I urge you to take the time and read this excellent, short, but powerful essay. And then really think about what you or your clients are doing. It’s never to late to act.
